Meet The Team
Nicola MacCarthy – Notary Public and Paralegal
Nicola has 18 years working in the Legal field. She has worked as a solicitor in Ireland and New Zealand. Nicola is a Notary Public, and provides paralegal support to the Private Client Team.
Nicola has two children and lives in Chester. She enjoys hiking, travelling and keeping fit.
Laurie Carruthers – Solicitor
Laurie has an LLB degree in Law and qualified as a solicitor in 2009. She joined the team in June 2018, and worked closely with us for a number of years prior to that.
She is experienced in property and commercial matters and works in our Conveyancing department. She also provides support and assistance to other members of the team when required.
Laurie is married with two children and lives in Wrexham. She enjoys reading, walking and trips to the Llyn Peninsula.
Jayne Jones – Trainee Solicitor
Jayne joined the company in 2013, whilst studying for her LLB Law Degree at Bangor University.
In 2015 she completed her Legal Practice Course with a combined Masters at the University of Law in Christleton.
Jayne is a Trainee Solicitor and due to qualify in January 2019, she works within the Conveyancing and Family law departments.
In her spare time, Jayne is a keen gardener, and gin expert! She has also taken up running with a local club and regularly takes part in a parkrun event on a Saturday morning.
Sue Stone – Legal Assistant
Sue joined the team in April 2018 as a Legal Assistant. She is an experienced Administrator with a varied background and has almost 20 years’ experience running her family Company.
Sue has a keen interest in Wills and Probate and joined the team to specifically further her career in this field. Sue deals with all aspects of Wills, Probate and Lasting Powers of Attorney.
She has an Honours degree in English and can deliver a lamb in her pyjamas.
Chrissie Jones – Legal Assistant
Chrissie joined the team in 2012 after completing her OCR Diploma in Text Processing. Chrissie provides support and assistance to the Civil and Family Team.
She is married and has three children, and spends most of her weekends at the side of a football pitch supporting her two sons and their teams.
Chrissie enjoys walking and bike rides and has participated in numerous sponsored walks, raising funds for her children’s football teams.
Gwyneth McNamee – Conveyancing Assistant
Gwyn is our resident Conveyancing Assistant and has worked for Hughes Parry Solicitors for 19 years. Gwyn has a wealth of experience in all aspects of conveyancing.
Gwyn is local to Holywell and is married with four grown up daughters, one step-son, and many grandchildren; who advise her that they are the light of her life.
Apart from spending time with her grandchildren Gwyn loves to read and trips to the theatre.
Shan Hughes Parry – Director
Shan studied Law with Marketing in De Montfort University, Leicester.
Shan has worked in Holywell since 1998 and qualified as a solicitor in 2002. Shan undertakes all aspects of Conveyancing, Trusts and Tax Planning, Wills, Probate and Powers of Attorney and Business and Commercial Services.
Shan lives locally with daughter.

Tim Wilson – Director
Tim qualified as a solicitor in 1998 and came to Holywell in 1999.
Tim undertakes all aspects of Civil and Family work. Tim has an LLM Master of Laws degree which he gained after a period of study focusing on how to effectively enforce court judgments.
Tim is married to Ruth (who also works at the firm) and together they have four children.
